HISTORY

ORIGINS

Formed in 2003, with senior staff who have over 38 years’ experience in Spain, the company was originally the result of a collaboration between Capital Developers, based in the Netherlands, and La Perla Living, an international development company based in Benahavis, Spain. Since then, the company has changed hands and is now the exclusive property of Philconsult S.L.

Originally, the MADE staff formed the Projects Department of La Perla Living, a Dutch developer and was responsible for the design and project management of all the iconic La Perla Projects in Spain, as well as the pre-contract work and the designs of initial concepts for projects in Antigua and France, As well as the supervision of all of the La Perla projects, under the command of the Project Director.

Due to the reorganization in La Perla’s organization, in 2003 the Projects Department became completely independent as MADE and had two departments, Architectural Services and Project Management.

The Department of Architectural Services had its own architects, draftsmen, technical architects and engineers all qualified in Spain who offered a complete design service for the clients.

The strengths of using MADE was that architects had been trained in the need to ensure that all projects contained complete details to ensure that a full detailed project was available to potential contractors, which in turn ensured that the most economical price was achieved for the Client.

EXPANSION

 

MADE expanded its area of ​​operations and worked in other areas of Spain such as Alicante, Valencia, Murcia and Barcelona, ​​as well as internationally with projects in Antigua, Bahamas, Qatar, Brazil, Nigeria and Bulgaria, as well as pre contract works and budgetary advice on potential projects in Venice, Italy, Iraq, Bahrain and Canada.

In 2010, during the “crisis” in the European real estate and construction sector, the director of MADE took the decision to concentrate purely on Project Management work and also to work exclusively in Spain.

To cater for our predominantly overseas clients, the Project Management Department employs only Project Managers trained and qualified in the United Kingdom or Europe or Spanish Technical Architects with a high level of knowledge of international works experience, all with the permanent on-site support of Spanish Technical Architects as supervisors.

The extensive experience of the Project Management staff and the philosophy of ensuring that all contractors have the full information to enable them to price with a minimum of potential extras ensures that the project is carried out with maximum efficiency and with a minimum of risk.

Over the last 38 years MADE and their principle have successfully completed and delivered over 1000 apartments and villas as well as three hotels; eight different pool complexes, health clubs and spas; several bank, commercial and office fit outs; and several bars and restaurants; as well as several engineering and infrastructure projects for urbanisations.

JOHN PHILLIPS

MANAGING DIRECTOR | PARTNER

With over 50 years’ experience in the construction industry in various countries such as UK, Saudi Arabia, and Holland and 38 years in Spain John Phillips has vast experience in the construction industry in management roles.

Since forming MADE the business expanded and has undertaken projects internationally in Europe, the Caribbean, The Middle East and North and South America in a variety of roles.

Now concentrating on the Spanish market, he is responsible for all aspects of the business.

GLORIA CASAS

ADMINISTRATOR | PARTNER

As a partner in the parent company Philconsult SL, Gloria has a management role in MADE.

She has previously worked in real estate sales and in senior administration roles for several companies.

MARÍA DEL CARMEN PORTERO

ADMINISTRATOR

Mari Carmen joined MADE from its formation in 2003 and is responsible for the day to day administration of the company.

She previously worked in the projects department of a major developer and has extensive experience in the organisation and administration for several companies.

STEVE BROOK

SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

Steve trained as a Quantity Surveyor in England working on a variety of projects and moved to Spain as a quantity surveyor for a large residential and golf project. He has worked for the past 20 years as a Project Manager on a multitude of commercial and residential for several clients.

Joined MADE in 2003 and since then has successfully managed and delivered several luxury developments as well as infrastructure and commercial projects.

JONATHAN YIP

ADMINISTRATOR

Jonathan qualified as a Spanish Technical architect, and also has experience working as a quantity surveyor and project manager. Previously working in Northern Spain before moving to Malaga in 2014.

He joined MADE in 2015 and has been responsible for successfully delivering several luxury residential projects with Sports and leisure facilities.

MARTIN GIBBS

SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

Martin has wide reaching ‘hands on’ international experience in all facets of Project and Construction Management. Gained wide experience in UK constructing infrastructure works and a vast amount of new housing and housing refurbishment projects.

Opened a Middle East branch office of an international construction company in Bahrain and carried out residential developments, and a variety of industrial and commercial projects. projects throughout the Middle East

Since coming to Spain, he has successfully completed 4 hotels, refurbishments and extensions to numerous private villas, banking premises and the roll out of a chain of 140 Pizza Hut restaurants throughout Spain. He also worked with major International Project Management companies on large mixed use projects in India, Jordan and Bulgaria, and Commercial Centres/Shopping Malls in Spain, Bulgaria, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland, 3 new hotels in Spain and 3 Prison Facilities in Albania.

Since joining MADE he has worked on Due Diligence Reports of local projects in Spain.
